There exist a number of opportunities to get involved in the life and work of CCE as we move into a new season of Church life:

Stewarding

A steward isn’t just about setting out chairs, but the first face that someone walking up the steps for the first time will see. If they see a smile, a welcome, interest and awareness, will often determine if they will return again another Sunday. You would be on once a month, and it does mean arriving early! Please contact Ben Gordon if you want to help.

Children and Crèche

The children in our community are our future. Guiding and teaching them the ways of Jesus requires the whole community, not just a few. How about giving a year to serving these little ones? Either in the crèche (contact Hannah Hasson) or in some of the children’s meetings (contact Kirsty Hook). There are particular opportunities to support the faith development of the younger children and we are looking to have 2 helpers in each group, so you can come and help without having to prepare content. These would be once a month.

Fair Trade Stall

Many of us on a Sunday appreciate the coffee (and items to eat) from the Fair Trade Stall, which adds hugely to our gathering on a Sunday morning. Again you would be on once every 6 weeks or so, and would mean getting to the church at 10am. It is a good way of meeting new people, and easy to do whether you are new to the church or been around for ages. Please contact Jenness Cameron.

Worship, Sound and VP

One of community practices is sung worship on our Sunday gatherings, where the musicians, sound person, and Video Projector operator serve us and God Sunday by Sunday. Contact John Muirhead, in the church office, who will direct your enquiry in the right direction. While it can vary, it is aimed to have people serving here once a month.

Connect Team

Helping new people find a place in the community is so important. We have a few people on each Sunday to help people connect with others (maybe introduce them to someone else in the church, or to a small group leader for example). But we also want to provide a lunch for new people 2 or 3 times a year and run a series of evening to help “introduce Community Church” to people wanting to find out more. Contact Chris Hall if you are interested.

Teas and Coffees
After our Sunday gatherings, there is a great opporunity to spend some time chatting and getting to know people better, and teas and coffees are provided to fuel that along. If you would like to help out then email Brenda Ellis.

Our family away day to Yellowcraigs is only two weeks away – Sunday 26th July – and we are at full steam getting it organised.

Come prepared to share a BBQ and some games and pray for sun! A burger and a bun will be provided, please bring your own refreshments, etc.

Also, we are still looking for volunteers to help set up the BBQ and clear up afterwards. If you would like to help please let David know, david@cce.uk.net.

Finally, if you have room in your car to take people there and back, or if you are looking for a space, let John in the office know, john@cce.uk.net. There are alternative, green ways of getting to Yellowcraigs too (cycling, train or a combination thereof) and if you woud like to get involved in that email Neil Duguid, neil@cce.uk.net.

This coming Sunday we continue our theme of 'Who is Jesus?' and Malcolm Calvert is sharing on 'I am the Good Shepherd'.

This coming Sunday we continue our theme of ‘Who is Jesus?’ and Malcolm Calvert is sharing on ‘I am the Good Shepherd’. Shirley Gatt is leading our worship, and Colin is our host. And in addition to all that we have Karen Anderson and Graeme Kemsley sharing on who Jesus is for them.

In prayer, we will be focussing in on the Honduran situation.

We have adopted a new format for our Sundays, and notices and offering are earlier on in the meeting to leave plenty of time for worship, sharing and hearing God’s word in the rest of our time together. So aim to be on time to hear what’s happening and to be able to give.
