A stunner: Beinn Na Lap 31st March hillwalk. 13 people
rose early to get to Tulloch train station (20 miles north of
Fort William) by 8am to catch the southbound train to the remote
Carrour station. We were greeted by an amusing sign: Please
note there is no taxi rank or bus station at this station.
As there were no roads we smiled. Half way up Beinn Na Lap by
10am and clothes flying off at a fair rate. Hot even at this
early part of the day, all rather overdressed. Lovely to have
snow near the peak. Snowball fights and exaggerated walking
ensued. Glorious views throughout the day: Loch Ossian below
and Rannoch Moor beyond it and also out towards Ben Nevis. Leisurely
lunch and slow amble down for most bar 2 keenies/fitties who
sprinted down to then ascend the opposite peak. Café
at the station was smart and friendly they had to be
given the kids prolonged discussions over the relative
merits of chocolate bunnies and fab ice lollies. Choices, choices!
3 hours or so spent outside with teas and beers. What a glorious,
satisfying day.
