This
was a circular walk from Bowden near Melrose through, over
and round the Eildon Hills which overlook Melrose and the
Borders countryside.
It's
a fairly easy walk, with 3/4 of it tried and tested on kids
aged 4 and above. The distance is c. 12 km taking a leisurely
4 hours plus a lunch break on the hill.
Comments
on the Eildon Hills walk:
"Well
it rained once we got on the road and rained for a fair
amount of the day. Memories however are warm. A short but
enjoyable walk for a group of 15 - 6 of whom were children
- into the Eildon hills behind Melrose (lunch at the top)
ended up in one of the cafes in Melrose over drinks and
a few bowls of chips. PS I wasn't aware of Simon Hodge's
close affinity with ravens."
"I
didn't like it because it was rainy. If it was less windy
it would have been fantastic. At the top I found that mum
had forgotten my lunch! Someone let me have one of their
rolls. I did like running down ahead of the others with
Simon and Louisa. The best bit was chips and lemonade in
a cafe at the end."
Adam Hook (aged 9)
