Green Team
The Green Team serves as a hub of creativity, actions, ideas, initiatives for the Community at Community Church Edinburgh and beyond to speak in one voice about green matters in pursuit of being better stewards of this Garden that is Planet Earth that our God has created, which is our only Home and which we must leave better than we found it for future generations.
The Green Team brings people together for “all are welcome” it also facilitates discussion and debate and then plans and organizes these fruits of this into reality. For example :
- Running of the Community Church Environmental Blog to facilitate discussion into green issues and action.
- Car pooling for the Church family towards getting to Church on Sundays, which also builds relationships.
- Running Events e.g. “We Canz Recycle”, collecting enough aluminum cans to save energy that would power TV sets for 45,000 hours.
- Waste Recycling aiming to reach 5% only waste to landfill.
- Organizing scenic bike rides around Edinburgh, rediscoving the joy of cycling, the environment and powering those zero emissions legs.
- Posting Free Cycle Board for reusing and exchanging unwanted “stuff”.
- Cup washing, to date 8,000 polystyrene cups have been saved from use, manufacture and landfill dump.
