Relationships

Connecting

We value relationships beyond our local congregation.

We have formed strong relationships in Edinburgh’s Christian community, including in the Newington area of the city through the Newington Council of church leaders. These relationships have developed across denominational boundaries, working together in unity, looking to serve our city.

Community Church is part of The Scottish Network Churches, a relational network of various churches that support one another, and learn together how to engage in God’s mission in our culture.  Colin Symes is part of the Network Core Team.

We are also connected to an emerging UK network called Vista, springing out of existing relationships with churches in Manchester, Southampton, Chichester and others.  Allan Cox, from New Community, Southampton, visits Edinburgh a couple of times a year, to support and coach the leadership team, adding an outside perspective that is invaluable.

In 2008, a group emerged from Community Church, to start a prayer room and Core Community on the edge of Edinburgh, called Wellsprings.  Dave Hewitt, one of the leaders of Community Church, is leading this new initiative, and as his responsibilities grow at Wellspring, he is lessening his involvement in CCE, while still maintaining ongoing friendship and collaboration.

Further afield, we also cherish links in Uganda, Poland, Slovakia and Kenya.  (overseas mission)
