Relationships
We value relationships beyond our local congregation.
We have formed strong relationships in Edinburgh’s Christian community, including in the Newington area of the city through “Newington Churches Together”. These relationships have developed across denominational boundaries, working together in unity, looking to serve our city. There are also city-wide ministers prayer events that the leaders of CCE attend.
Community Church is part of The Scottish Network Churches, a relational network of various churches that support one another, and learn together how to engage in God’s mission in our culture. Colin Symes is part of the Network Core Team. See “CCE on the Scottish Scene” for more information on our involvement with the Scottish Network.
We are also connected to New Community in Southampton. Allan Cox visits Edinburgh a couple of times a year, sometimes with his wife Lizzie, to support and coach the leaders, adding an outside perspective that is invaluable. The counselling service from New Community also supports and advises Hope Counselling Service.
In 2008, a group emerged from Community Church, to start a prayer room and Core Community on the edge of Edinburgh, called Wellsprings. Dave Hewitt, at that time one of the leaders and staff of Community Church, is leading this new initiative.
Further afield, we also cherish links in Uganda, Poland, Slovakia and Kenya. (overseas mission)
